With over 20 years of experience in dance, performing arts, and leadership, she has dedicated her life to using the arts as a bridge to healing, empowerment, and transformation. As Director of the Arts for ISANA Academies in Los Angeles, April oversees dynamic arts programming across multiple campuses, impacting the lives of hundreds of young people through culturally responsive and diverse-centered initiatives that ignite imagination and instill pride.

Her professional journey spans the globe as she has performed with the world-renowned Lula Washington Dance Theatre and with iconic artists including Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige, Usher, and many more. Most recently, she has lent her visionary talents as a guest choreographer for Wendy Raquel Robinson’s Amazing Grace Conservatory and as Creative Director/ Choreographer for recording artist Alfred Jackson.

April’s work is grounded in her Christian faith, which anchors every step she takes. She leads with unwavering love, spiritual intention, and a calling to serve through the arts. As a proud mother, April celebrates her daughter’s recent graduation from Florida A&M University and cheers on her son as he enters his junior year of high school. She is also joyfully engaged to a wonderful man who shares and supports her mission to uplift, unite, and inspire communities through education, creativity, and cultural celebration.

April Thomas lives a life with the intentional purpose of pouring light, legacy, and love into every life she touches because she lives by the scripture of, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
